Mentorship

Do I Need Business Mentorship

Do you have an amazing idea that you’d like to turn into a business?

Has your current business hit a plateau in sales?

Do you want to pivot your business to a new or additional audience?

Are you winning contracts, but it is inconsistent and feels “hit or miss”?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, we encourage you to connect with a business mentor.

Mentorship Basics

Anton Lucanus summed it up best when he wrote, “Mentors can see a problem through fresh lenses. Experience is the most valuable asset of everyone’s career, and mentors often know the ups and downs of the path ahead. They can act as your map and compass on your journey to success.” (Forbes, Sept 2021)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Government Contracting?

Individuals or firms who enter into a contract with any government department or agency to perform a specified task, provide labor and materials, or sell goods and services are known as government contractors. A subcontractor is a business that works with another business that has direct government contracts.

The government needs to acquire products and services in order to keep all public and essential services such as those required for public safety, national security, health, infrastructure and social services.

How do I know if there are contracts for my type of business?

The great thing about Government Contracting is that you can generally find something for your niche. Often times, our mentors will show you opportunities where you can be creative in your approach.

Do You Only Work With Established Companies?

No. We work with companies at all levels, including startups. However, if you are new to Government Contracting, we highly recommend taking our Ultimate Beginners Guide Course before applying for mentorship.

How long do I have to use my mentorship hours?

All mentorship hours should be used within a 6 month timeframe for two reasons:

1) We want you to be successful. Stretching out longer than 6 months has proven to cause delay in achieving priorities and goals.

2) We have a waiting list more often than not so we want to ensure those in the program are moving forward towards completion so others can gain acceptance.

What areas do you mentor?

Most of our clients are intersted in scaling their business by winning government contracts, however we do work in leadership development as well. Learning to run a government contracting business effectively and efficiently is just as important, if not more so, as securing  the contracts.

We teach our clients the critical points of effective leadership (ex. Leading others, Productivity, Managing High Performing Teams), as well as the basics of operations development.

How is your mentorship program different than others?

Our program is 100% customized. No two mentees ever start in the same place. Our mentors also have real industry experience, not just theoretical approaches. What we give our mentees are the resources and processes that WE use within our own company (ESS Group Inc) that have made millions for our clients.
